About · the project
A small academy, built in public,
for the decade ahead.
Plato University is a one-year academy for the AI era. Philosophy first, portfolio last. An online core with in-person seminars in the city you already live in. We are pre-launch. The first month — a small founding gathering to shape what the year becomes — begins in Amsterdam, September 2026.
We are building the school we wish we had been given. Not a research university. Not a bootcamp. Not a credential factory. A small community of people reading primary sources, asking hard questions, defending their work in front of one another, and walking home through a city they know by name.
The vision says why. The year says what we're reading and how it's shaped. The thinker page says who we're looking for. This page answers the more mundane questions — where we are, how we're organized, how to reach us.

Pre-launch, community-minded.We are building in public, with our founding team, mentors, and the small group who joins the September gathering. As the project grows into the full year, we intend to formalize into a community-owned institution.
How we're organized
Plato University is, today, a small founding team working out of Amsterdam. We have no investors, no board, no campus, and no debt. We have a reading list, a city, a date, and the conviction that one careful year is worth five distracted ones.
The project is operated, during this pre-launch phase, under a Dutch sole-trader registration (KvK 70565783). If the first cohort goes as we hope, we expect to re-form as a stichting or cooperative owned by its mentors, alumni, and founding students — not by us. The legal shell is deliberately light until there's something worth formalizing.
If you'd like to help build this — as a mentor, a patron, a host in your city, or a student — write to us. We read everything.
